Classic Margarita

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Obviously had to make a classic marg and get some guac and chips for Cinco de Mayo! I’m not a huge fan of tequila, but this drink was not overpowering at all! There were a few extra steps for this drink, but still super easy and definitely a crowd favorite! I also made a non-alcoholic version for my friend who is pregnant and she absolutely loved it! I will add the recipe for both!

INGREDIENTS:
~ 3 oz tequila
~ 2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
~ 1 oz simple syrup (recipe below)
~ 1 teaspoon of orange liquer
~ Lime-salt-sugar for glass rim (recipe below)
** Ginger ale or club soda for non-alcoholic version!

SIMPLE SYRUP:
~ 1 cup sugar
~ 1 cup water

LIME-SALT-SUGAR:
~ zest of one lime
~ 2 tablespoons salt
~ 2 tablespoon sugar

STEPS:
1. Fill cocktail shaker with ice
2. Add tequila, lime juice, simple syrup and orange liquer
3. SHAKE until chilled (about 30 seconds)
4. Place LIME-SALT-SUGAR on plate
5. Rub rim of glass with lime then press into LIME-SALT-SUGAR mixture
6. Pour into glass – either with ice or without – garnish with lime wedge

STEPS FOR NON-ALCOHOLIC VERSION:
1. Rub rim of glass with lime then press into LIME-SALT-SUGAR mixture
2. Fill glass with ice
3. Add 4 oz ginger ale – 2 oz lime juice – 1 oz simple syrup
4. Light stir and garnish with lime wedge

SIMPLE SYRUP STEPS:
1. Put sugar and water in a small saucepan
2. Cook over low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves
